bigger

I'm definitely getting bigger but appear to have a nice layer of blubber over the baby... to keep it warm of course. So now I just look fat. But today I let it all hang out. I didn't feel like covering it all up and holding it all in... which I can't really do anymore any way. It felt nice!

I found another gender predictor quiz online and it said there's a 60% chance I'll have a girl... we'll see in 3 more weeks!

P.S.

I had a Roland's tuna sub on Saturday... This is the first (and probably last) time I've had tuna or any other 'no no' foods in the last 17 weeks and I don't think once is a big deal. Any way, it was delicious going in, but then I burped it up for the next 10 hours and that was absolutely disgusting. Note to self -baby does not like tuna.

We Have Movement!

Friday while I was sitting at my desk at work I felt a little blub in my belly. It was a feeling that I've never had before so I thought that maybe it was the baby but probably gas because I've never had more gas in my life than I do right now. When I continued to feel that blub all weekend I knew that it was my little fetus dancing around. It feels like little bubbles bursting inside of me. It's pretty much the coolest thing ever.

My belly has grown in the past week. I still look more fat than pregnant but it's growing! I can no longer comfortably wear my non maternity pants. I've been using the elastic trick for quite a few weeks now and was still able to zip the fly. But yesterday whenever I sat down I had to undo the elastic and unzip my pants... very attractive!

I decided with the big storm coming tomorrow I'm going to take the day off from work. Feeling the baby move has made the pregnancy real and it makes me nervous being out and about tomorrow with all the jerks on the road... I want to protect my little baby. And plus this will give me time to work on the bedrooms!

Oh, and I'm starting to feel mentally stable again... hooray!

16 Week Appointment

I had an awesome appointment today! I got to hear the baby's heartbeat as soon as she put the thingy on my belly. The doctor said that we're in trouble because we've got a mover on our hands... along with the heartbeat we could hear the baby moving all around which was very cool. I can't feel anything yet, though. The doc also said that I'm measuring a week ahead of 16 weeks which means I could pop this sucker out a week early... as in June 28... sorry Ash :)! I'll try not to let is squeeze out before that.

My next appointment is in 4 weeks and that's when we get to find out the gender... I can't wait! So far two people have guessed... Molly thinks it's a girl and Justin (Molly's bf) thinks it's a boy. I have a book that has all these different 'tests' to see whether it's a boy or girl and mine were split down the middle, 12 girl -12 boy. I don't have a gut feeling either way.

Bedding

I have decided on the bedding/room theme I want. I'm going to use it regardless of the baby's gender. It does look a little more like boy than girl, but I'll figure out a way to fem it up if i need to. If you don't like, please keep that to yourself. :) I don't need anything else to cry about.

I bought some maternity pants yesterday! One pair of jeans and my mom bought me a pair for work. They are sooooo comfortable!

Josh and I both have the day off from work so we're relaxing and spending the day together. This is perfect and just what I needed!

16 weeks

So I'm 16 weeks and I have my 16 week check up on Tuesday, I'm excited/nervous for that.

Yesterday I went out with Ashley Jill and her other bridesmaid to get dresses. All the dresses that could come in maternity were okay, but I really liked a non-maternity one. The lady there said that the way the dress was made they could add fabric to it to make it fit me when I'm 9 months pregnant. They ordered the dress two sizes bigger than what I measure now AND an extra yard a fabric! This will be interesting!

Below is what babycenter.com says about being 16 weeks:
How your baby's growing:Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

All I keep reading about is how I need to stay stress free and all this stuff. I don't know if it's the hormones, or what, but I feel more stressed now than I have in a long time. I cried twice yesterday from being so upset and it feels like work knows I'm pregnant so there trying to push me as hard as they can. Nothing seems to be easy right now. I know you're probably thinking to yourself "life is never easy" but I feel like I'm being tested or something. It's just tough right now.

Boring Update

Nothing new or exciting has been happening. I've had a few moments of nausea in the past week. I'm still more tired than normal but definitely not as bad as a few weeks ago. I started going back to the gym this week, finally. I do about an hour of cardio while reading my book and that just makes the time fly so I actually enjoy myself... except for when I'm stuck between two real smelly people. I'm still using a rubber band on my pants. My stomach has popped out a little which is kind of funny. Definitely constipated! But I'm working on fixing that. When I was in my food hating moods I didn't each as healthy as I should have therefore not getting the proper 'roughage' one needs to make a healthy poop. But I've started eating applesauce and my Fiber One bars again. I go to the doctor next Tuesday for my 16 week check up. I can't believe I'm already that far along... time goes by so fast.

I spoke with my manager about switching to second shift and it looks like it'll probably happen in April. As much as I'll miss my dear husband I'm looking forward to it a little. Work has been way too stressful lately and it's getting difficult to handle. Second shift is a lot more laid back with less responsibilities and I could really use that right now.

Daigle

I think I'm finally getting my Daigle appetite back! Hooray! Now I can start packing on the pounds and fit into my maternity clothes! Okay... I'll try not to go overboard but food finally sounds/tastes good again and I'm excited!

Tonight, we're eating sweet and sour chicken with a ton of yummy veggies and some brown rice. It's all done... however Josh is not home yet so I'll have to be patient.

I'm never eating pizza again.

Elastic

I have been using the elastic band trick for the past two weeks... it looks like I'll contiue to use that for a few more weeks.

I've noticed lately that I'm way more outspoken than I ever have been in my life. I know that's funny, Ashley, outspoken... but I just can't seem to keep my mouth shut! It's a good thing because i was so shy before but it's also a bad thing. Apparently I've turned my sensor off and that whole 'think before you speak' has gone out the window. People at work have noticed and some think it's funny... but the people on the receiving end don't really see the humor. Oh well, at least I'm able to get all this crap off my chest!

We Have Entered the Second Trimester

Today I'm 14 weeks which is the start of the second trimester! I seem to be getting some of my energy back and I'm not feeling as nauseous as before, thank God. All my pants are a little too tight. I'm barely able to button/zip them and when I do it's incredibly uncomfortable. I went out with my mom yesterday to try to find some new pants that fit better but we didn't have much luck... I'm too small for maternity clothes but too big for my normal clothes.

It looks like I might need to switch to second shift (4pm -12:30 am) once the baby is born. That way I can stay home with the baby during the day and Josh will be home with him/her at night. I definitely don't want to do this even though I think it's our best option and the baby's best option. I like the idea of always having a parent at home but I don't like the fact that I'll only see Josh on the weeks. That really scares me. But at least I've got a little more time to think about this.

Here's what babycenter.com has to say about the baby at 14 weeks:
"How your baby's growing:This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active."
