32 week check up

I just got back from the doctor. I gained 5 pounds which isn't as bad as I was expecting. Jack is head down and weighs in the upper 3 pound range. His heart rate is 136. I now have to start going every 2 weeks... the end is near! In 4 weeks I have to have a routine rectal swab for group b strep... gross!!! I got the paperwork to fill out for Jack's birth certificate, very exciting! So overall everything is going great. I'm now going to go take a nap and then work on my birth plan.

My First (kind of) Mother's Day

Josh spoiled me on my first almost Mother's Day. He took me out for a very nice dinner where I ate a ton (appetizer, entree and dessert!) We then spent the night at the Wren's Nest. It was such a wonderful and relaxing evening. Earlier that day I went for my first pedicure with Ashley J and Jaime and OH MY GOD, I want one everyday! I was pampered all day and it was perfect! So thank you, my darling husband, for being so good to me!

He's definitely getting bigger. I can feel his every movement and it's beginning to be a little uncomfortable. I've been feeling legs a feet at the very top of my stomach. He gets the hiccups pretty much daily which is funny to watch. He's been moving a lot the past few days, he doesn't seem to take a break!

His room is coming a long nicey. The walls have been painted and the trim is almost done.

32 Weeks ...almost

On Sunday I'll be 32 weeks/8 months pregnant... oh my God... this is going by so fast.

Rick finished patching holes in the baby room last weekend so I primed and started painting. I'm glad it's finally starting to come together. I'm hoping to have the room done by the end of the month but we'll see.

Over the past few weeks I've developed many classic pregnancy symptoms... I'm super emotional and moody, swollen feet and ankles, hot flashes and some other things that I'm not going to mention but use your imagination. My belly button has pretty much popped and the skin around it is getting so tight that it's turning purpley-red... pretty!:)

Today I felt either an arm or a leg roll across my side... that was a very interesting feeling. He still likes to poke my ribs with his feet and lately I've been feeling a lot of pressure on my pelvic area, that's not so comfortable but I'm usually able to move around in a way that will get him into a different position.

I can't believe that I only have 8 weeks to go. Here's what babycenter has to say:How your baby's growing:By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

He's been getting the hiccups pretty regularly now... he has them right now.

I have pictures from 30 and 31 weeks... I'll get around to posting them.

Parents

I must say that Josh and I are spoiled. Yesterday afternoon my mom came over and kept me company for a few hours. We sat on the couch and talked and she got to feel Jack moving for a good 10 minutes. He's finally starting to dance for other people (other than Josh).

While I was at work Sharon and Rick came over and fixed up the place for us... that was an awesome treat when I got home! The dishes were done, the kitchen cleaned (awesome) and the baby room is getting started.

I've decided that I hate working second shift. I like everything about it other than the fact that I'm on the opposite schedule of everyone else in the world. I'm hoping that when the baby comes I'll feel better about the opposite shifts but at this point it sucks.

I'm definitely looking pregnant, there's no mistaking it now. Now matter what I wear I look pregnant. A few weeks ago I could wear my mens large sweatshirt and because it was so bulky you couldn't really see the belly. I wore that same sweatshirt again last week and holy crap, I looked pregnant! It's funny to me. I keep looking at my tummy in the mirror... I just can't believe that that's my son in there!

Physically I'm feeling much better than I was a few weeks ago. I don't have as many aches and pains which it great. My belly is feeling heavier but that's to be expected since there's so much water and baby in there. I'm starting to get hot very easily, but I kind of like that. I'm used to being cold a lot so it's a nice change. I'm definitely getting more emotional, I cry pretty much daily, mostly over silly things. I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of being/feeling pregnant and it's not so bad!

30 week pics coming soon...

p.s. totally wearing sweats to work today!

Advice

I'm used to getting little tid bits of advice from people about being pregnant and how to be a mother which is fine, most of it has actually been helpful. However, there is one person that gives advice/lectures on almost a daily basis about what I should and should not be doing. Yesterday, for example, I was lectured on three different subjects:

1) I should not be out in the sun.
Advice giver: You shouldn't lay out in the sun, you will fry your baby. My pregnant friends used to lay out on the beach and I'd tell them that if they wanted to kill their baby they should've just got an abortion.
Me: I was in and out of the sun for only a few hours and made sure that I kept my body cool by either shade or soaking myself in water. I stayed hydrated and only got a little pink. No harm done.

2) I should not be taking motrin.
Advice giver: I feel so sick today.
Me: I have motrin if you'd like some.
Advice giver: You're not supposed to take that when you're pregnant.
Me: I don't, I've had that bottle since before I got pregnant.
Advice giver: Well, you shouldn't take anyway, your liver can't break it down.

3) I should not be working overtime.
Advice giver: You look tired.
Me: I'm pregnant and it's 11pm
Advice giver: You shouldn't work overtime when you're pregnant. You should be home resting.
Me: I'm tired because it's 11pm, not from working OT. I sit at a desk most of the day, it's hard to get tired from that.

4) I should not get angry.
Me: (I can't remember how the conversation started but I mentioned something that pissed me off)
Advice giver: You shouldn't get angry when your pregnant or your baby will have a bad temper.

Other topics include ultrasounds, my diet, exercise, labor, etc...

I want to say that I would NEVER put my baby or myself in danger. I know that I'm more relaxed about the pregnancy this time but that does not mean I'm harming the baby in anyway. Anything that I do that's questionable I talk to the doctors first to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. She's driving me crazy! The down side is that other than this annoying advice she gives me I really like her so I can't tell her to shut up. But I've got to look on the bright side... only to more weeks of listening to her!

Hot Weather + Somersworth + 30 Weeks Pregnant

Holy craps it's hot... but I'm not complaining! I'm so excited for hot weather, however, I have to be careful not to let my body temp rise too much because Jack doesn't like that. He's not able to regulate his body temp, that's my job.

Josh and I did some yard work (because we have our very own yard!) and then Josh grilled some hamburgers for lunch. After that I was a little tired but not ready to go back in the house so I laid out in the back yard in the sun and it felt so good but it was very hot. I had a jug of water with me so I poured water over my head and belly. That kept my nice and cool in the hot sun. When I pulled my shirt up to expose my belly to the sun Jack would react to the light (he's able to see light through my tummy now) and start kicking. I was only out for maybe an hour because I didn't want to get too hot but it was awesome. After that Josh and I lounged in the shade for a bit. I ended up drinking 2 gallons of water yesterday, I think that's a new record!

He didn't move too much this past week which made me nervous (because he's normally very active) but he was moving enough to not raise any red flags. Yesterday I think he decided that he'd show me everything was okay because he moved ALL day long. It was a big relief to feel him acting like his normal little fetal self again.

Yesterday Jack found new places to poke me. his feet were up so high it felt like he could touch my heart... it was the weirdest feeling! He was also tickling my ribs that are right under my boobs. He's about 3 pound and 16 inches long. I can't believe he's getting so big! I can't wait to meet him!

(when viewing these pictures keep in mind that I live in Somersworth now so I can get away with it.)
