Jack has his 6 month check up this week (even though he's closer to 7 months) and it went very well. He weighs 18lbs 13oz and is 28.5" long. He's in the 30th percentile for weight and the 80th for height. He passed all the doctor's 'tests' and even impressed her with his leg strength. As a 'test' she puts the baby down on their belly to see what the baby will do. Jack was not having it, he did not want to be on his belly and would not allow. She tried three times to get him to lay down and he kept bringing his legs underneath him to sit up. She was very impressed and said that's pretty advanced, along with the fact that he can pull himself up to standing.
He got four shots and wasn't much of a trooper this time. It was much harder for us this time because he was desperately reaching for me but i could pick him up. It broke my heart.
We were told that he should now be eating cereal twice a day, for breakfast and dinner, can start using a sippy cup, and start drinking a little water. I got him some veggie baby food, suggested by the doctor, and his very own sippy cup. He wasn't that skilled with this new cup but I helped him and he got a few good sips of water which he didn't seem to mind. For dinner last night he had cereal and sweet potatoes which he seemed to enjoy. Tonight he had carrots which he clearly HATED.
For the last 8 days Jack has slept through the night (for the most part). He's woken up a few times and cried but we left him cry it out and he went back to sleep on his own. The crying only lasted a few minutes... i think the longest he had to cry for all week was 6 minutes. He's finally starting to sleep!!! Now that I've written this I'm sure he won't sleep for a month...
He's an incredibly happy baby and I feel so blessed that he's in my life.
